Editorial policy
The rules we hold ourselves to, written down so you can hold us to them too.
Last updated June 2026
Accuracy first
Every factual claim and every formula in our tools is traceable to a primary veterinary source or peer-reviewed research, and we name those sources on the page. We'd rather publish less and be right than publish fast and be wrong — especially on anything touching your pet's health.
Sourcing
We rely on recognised veterinary authorities — the Merck Veterinary Manual, AAHA and AAFP guidelines, and peer-reviewed studies — over secondhand blog summaries. When sources disagree, we say so rather than papering over it.
Independence
Our recommendations are editorially independent of our revenue. Affiliate partners cannot buy a better review, change a tool's output, or influence our conclusions. We explain how we earn on our how we make money page.
Veterinary review
Health and money content follows the review standard described on our experts & review process page, including veterinary review of guidance articles before publication. We disclose where that review is still being put in place rather than implying a credential we don't yet have.
Updates & corrections
Veterinary guidance changes; when it does, we update the affected tools and pages. If you spot an error, email hello@petgrit.com — we'll fix it promptly and note material corrections.
Medical disclaimer
PetGrit provides general information and estimates, not veterinary advice. It does not create a veterinarian–client–patient relationship and is not a substitute for professional care. Always consult your veterinarian about your individual animal, your local disease risks, and the law where you live.
