Entry requirements at a glance
- Microchip
- Required
ISO 11784/11785 standard 15-digit microchip. Must be implanted before or at the time of the first rabies vaccination — never after.
- Rabies vaccine
- Required. Must be administered after microchipping. A valid, in-date rabies vaccination is mandatory.
- Health certificate
- USDA-accredited vet health certificate + USDA APHIS endorsement. Must be issued within 10 days of travel. The UK requires the APHIS 7001 form endorsed by USDA APHIS.
- Rabies titer test
- Not required Not required if the pet is traveling from the U.S. (which is on the UK's approved third-country list). Pets must enter via an approved route and carrier.
- Quarantine on arrival
- None if all requirements are met None if all requirements are met and the pet enters via an approved route. Pets arriving without correct documentation can be placed in quarantine at the owner's expense.
