Entry requirements at a glance

Microchip

Required

Confirm accepted identification, scan records and the required sequence with vaccination for your exact route. A chip requirement alone does not establish that your records meet it.

Rabies vaccine

Dogs and cats must meet Taiwan's minimum-age and microchip requirements and have a rabies vaccination given at least 30 days, but no more than one year, before shipment. Confirm the actual age and vaccination records with APHIA; this summary does not prescribe a universal two-dose-plus-booster course.

Health certificate

Use Taiwan's current required veterinary health certificate, issued by a USDA-accredited veterinarian and endorsed by USDA APHIS. Present the original certificate and import permit on arrival; state health-certificate forms are not accepted as substitutes.

Rabies titer test

For U.S. dogs and cats other than qualifying Hawaii or Guam cases, blood sampling must be at least 90 days and no more than one year before shipment, with a result of at least 0.5 IU/mL from an accepted laboratory. Hawaii and Guam use separate requirements. Do not apply a universal 180-day wait.

Quarantine on arrival

The standard APHIS-described U.S. mainland branch includes 7 days of post-entry quarantine and repeat rabies antibody testing. Hawaii, Guam, and re-import cases have separate conditions. Confirm the reservation and applicable inspection requirements with APHIA.
