The #4F clipper blade
A #4F blade leaves about 3/8" (9.5 mm) of coat.
Cut length
3/8"(9.5 mm)
Type
Finish cut (F/FC) — even, smooth result
What the #4F is used for
- Short-but-not-shaved: the classic 'short teddy' body length
- Both maker charts call it for Shih Tzu, Maltese and Bichon pet cuts
- Skip-tooth sibling: a plain #4 cuts the same 3/8" with a coarser feed
Breeds this length suits
Goldendoodle Shih Tzu Yorkshire Terrier Cocker Spaniel Miniature Schnauzer Bichon Frise Maltese Scottish Terrier
Blade choice always depends on coat condition — a matted coat needs a shorter blade than the style chart says. The blade & comb finder walks you through it.
Which clippers it fits
#4F detachable blades use the A5 standard — they interchange across Andis, Oster, Wahl KM-series, and Heiniger A5-style clippers regardless of which brand made the blade. They do not fit 5-in-1 adjustable clippers (Wahl Bravura/Arco) or screw-on home clippers, which take their own blade systems.
